The Shri Digambar Jain Atishaya Kshetra Chamatkarji is situated in the historic city – Sawaimadhopur of Rajasthan, which is surrounded by beautiful hills of Arawali Mountain Range. World famous ‘Tiger Century’ & ‘Ganesh Temple’ of ‘Ranthambhore’ is simply 15 km ahead from Sawai Madhopur. At Chamatkarji Atishaya Kshetra, a 6 inches high miraculous idol of Bhagwan Adinath in Padmasana posture is installed in a beautiful altar. Due to the miracles of this small idol, the name of this Kshetra was kept Chamatkarji (Chamatkar – miracles).

Story of getting this miraculous idol is as under: -
On the day – ‘Bhadrapad Krishna – 1’ of V.S. 1889, a dream was seen by a farmer – ‘Jogi’, some one was saying him that at the place where his plough was stopped, from that place plough will not move further, on digging there he will visit the God. Seeing the dream, Jogi felt in wonder. Next day he reached at the proper place with his family and started digging carefully. After some time he saw the part of idol shining like mirror in the day light. Than carefully he removed the soil and saw the idol of Bhagwan Adinath, he kept the idol out of the earth. At that time voice of ‘Jai – Jai’ was heard in the sky and shower of saffron was also seen. Jogi became pious and he started worship / prayers to the God with deep heart. As this news spread in the public, peoples started to come there in groups. After visiting the idol that was declared the idol of Jain’s first Teerthankara Bhagwan Adinath. So Jains decided to install the idol in a temple of Sawaimadhopur city. While Jogi knew about this, he became upset and tears from his eyes started continuously. At that night he was unable to get sleep, he was only thinking about the God, which was going away from him next morning. But in the last night he slept and saw a dream. In dream some one was saying to him that God will not go anywhere leaving him alone, God will stay there, temple will be built in his village. Next day a chariot was prepared, idol was placed in that, but the chariot didn’t move from there, people tried again & again but all in vain. Than Jogi told to persons about his dream. After knowing about the dream, a decision was taken to build the magnificent temple at that place. Within in a short period a huge magnificent and artistic temple was constructed, beautiful spire was constructed on the top of sanctum. That miraculous idol was installed in the temple and an umbrella has been constructed at the place where idol was recovered from earth. Foot images are installed in this umbrella. Since the time of appearance of this idol, so many miracles have taken place here, so this Kshetra is called ‘Chamatkarji’ (Chamatkar - Miracle). Many people come here to get their desires materialized. Some devotees have constructed umbrellas on the roof of temple after fulfillment of their desires / removal of troubles.

Miracles of Chamatkarji Kshetra: -
(i) Once, a Nazim was there in Sawaimadhopur named – “Nasaruddin”. Once he was dismissed from his post for some serious reason. While returning to his home Nasaruddin went to the temple for Darshan (visit) of Chamatkarji and prayed that if he is again regularized on his post he will construct an umbrella on the main gate of temple. After Darshan of Bhagwan he reached to railway station. At station he was informed that he was reappointed on his post. He again came to the temple, prayed before the idol of Chamatkarji – bhagwan Adinath and joined the duty. After some time he constructed a beautiful umbrella on the main gate of temple made of red stone.

(ii) In Sawaimadhopur, after some time, there came a Nazim named – “Safaruddin”. He was suffering from a serious disease and he was unable to cure from that disease even after a long treatment. When he learned about the miracles of Chamatkarji, he also came there to visit. He decided that if he gets cured from the disease, he will construct umbrellas on all the four corners of the temple. Due to the miracles of Chamatkarji, with in a short period. Nazim Safaruddin became free from that terrible disease and felt healthy. Then according to the decision he constructed attractive artistic umbrellas on all the four corners of the temple, these are still enhancing the beauty of the temple. So many times such miracles have taken place here still today many types of miracles are seen by devotees here. Peoples come here to materialize their desires and to get rid from worldly troubles / problems.

Shri Chamatkarji Atishaya Kshetra Mandir is a huge ancient and beautiful temple decorated with artistic spires and umbrellas, famous for the miracles of the idol of Chamatkarji (Bhagwan Adinath’s idol) 6 inches in height in Padmasana posture that is made of white quartz (Sphatic Mani).

There are two altars in the temple. In the altar of the front principal deity Bhagwan Padmaprabhu’s idol in seating posture is installed, that is 1 feet & 3 inch high made of dark red stone & was reverenced in V. S. 1546. Other artistic idols of Bhagwan Chandraprabhu, Panch Balyati and other Teerthankaras are also worth seeing here.
In the back there is second altar where Shri Chamatkarji’s idol is installed. Other ancient idols are also installed here.

At a little distance from Chamatkarji Temple, an umbrella is standing at the place, from where the miraculous idol of Chamatkarji was found from the earth. Under the umbrella, a pair of foot images of Bhagwan Adinath are installed.

In city Sawai Madhopur there are seven artistic & ancient Jain Temples are also worth seeing. So many ancient & attractive idols are installed in these temples,

(i) Diwanji’s Temple – There are 750 idols. Many of them are brought from fort of Ranthambhor.

(ii) Panchayati Temple – Principal deity Bhagwan Parshvanath and many more.

(iii) Mudayami Temple (Kanch Ka Mandir) – Principal deity Bhagwan Parshvanath, Artistic work of glass & mirrors is worth seeing here.

(iv) Sanvalaji Mandir – Principal deity Bhagwan Adinath

(v) Terapanthi Mandir – Principal deity Bhagwan Adinath

(vi) Bhasavari Mandir – Principal deity Bhagwan Parshvanath
