| About
Simhanagadde :
|
Shri Kshetra Simhanagadde is
famous for Atishaya of Jwalamalini Devi – the Yakshini of Bhagwan Chandraprabhu.
About 600 years ago the capital of ‘Ger-soppa Soduv Empire’ was present at
distance of 27 km from ‘Honnavar’ in North Kannada District. The Queen Channa
Vera Devi the wife of Jain King got constructed 700 temples. After attack of
Portuguese the Queen was defeated & temples were ruined. The remains of ruined
Jain temples are still there and one can see them.
At that time only Muni Chikk Samantbhadra saw Jawalamalini in his dreams. The
Jawalamalini Devi after coming in his dreams informed him that ‘soon her temple
will be destroyed and she asked him to install her idol at that place where cow
& lion should play together’. After this dream Chikk Samantbhadra took idol from
the temple and started the search on bullock cart for some safe place. At a
distance 2 km from Narasimharajapur, he saw that both cow & lion were playing
together without any enmity. As the conditions of this place were similar to
conditions which
Jwalamalini Devi told in dream, therefore he got temple constructed at this
place & installed the reverenced idol of Jwalamalini. After the establishment of
temple this place assumed the name Simhanagadde. This place has also remained
devotional center of many Acharyas.
Atishaya :The idol of Jwalamalini is miraculous. The desires of devotees
get fulfilled here. |

There are 6 temples located in Jwalamalini Atishaya Kshetra. Both ancient and
new types of temples are present at this Kshetra.
Bhagwan Chandraprabhu (Chandranath) Temple is the first temple, which is
reconstructed at the place of old one. The 4 feet high Padmasanasth marble
idol of Bhagwan Chandranath is the principal deity of this temple. Temple is
constructed in square area and its gate of modern style is quite attractive.
It has sky-high spire and this temple is built by squared stones.
The second temple of this Kshetra is famous as Parshvanath Swami Jain Temple.
According to inscriptions discovered from this place it is clear that this
temple was constructed during the reign of King Krishnadeo Rai of Vijay Nagar,
this particular inscription is still available in this temple. The 5 feet high
standing idol of Parshvanath surmounted by 9 serpent hoods is quite
attractive. Along with idols of Teerthankaras, idols of goddess Saraswati &
Padmawati are also installed here.
The Jwalamalini Temple is the third temple of this Kshetra. The idol of
Jwalamalini – the Yakshini of Bhagwan Chandraprabhu is made of Bronze. It is
quite attractive & beautiful engraved.
The lot of open space is left around the temple. There is pond behind this
temple and lot of lotus flowers bloom in this pond. Thus the sight of temple
has become quite beautiful.
The Bhagwan Shantinath Temple is the fourth temple and in this 4 feet high
Padmasanasth marble idol of principal deity Bhagwan Shantinath is installed
here. The wooden gate of this temple is quite artistic.
The fifth temple is the Muth-Mandir & ancient idols of Bhagwan Bahubali,
Parshvanath, Chandraprabhu, Jwalamalini are installed here.
Kshetrapal Temple is the sixth temple constructed in the campus of Muth-Mandir. |
