According to ethics, Banpur was the capital of Banasur the king of demons that
Banpur is now beautiful with the Jain temples approximately 1000 years old.
Banpurs king Mardan Sing was with Rani Lakshmi Bai. The great warier in the
freedom struggle of yr. 1857 againast English Empire.

standing idol of Lord Shantinath (The 16th Teerthankar) 18 feet in height
installed in V.S. 1001 is here. Two standing idols of Lord Kunthunath and
Arahnath 7 feet in height are installed in both sides of Shantinath.
A Sahastrakoot Chaityalaya (A little temple of single stone with 1008 idols
carved on it) prepared before 10th century A.D. is also here. |

Here at Banpur, in the field of 200 X 280 feet size five big ancient
templesare to be
noticed. Main temple of Lord Shantinath is very beautiful with 18 feet high
colossus in standing posture. Second is Lord Mahavir temple consists a
attractive 1000 years old idol of Lord Mahaveer is viewable.
